Visual Arts in St. Lucia
The Honourable Dunstan St. Omer, St. Lucia’s foremost visual artist is the designer of the national flag.
Among his numerous works, are murals, some of which are on display in many churches in St Lucia, and portraits of famous St. Lucians. St. Omer has also inspired generations of young St. Lucian artists. He worked in the Ministry of Education as an art instructor for over 30 years, and is still passionate about introducing young people to the arts.
St. Omer has now been conferred what is perhaps the most public honour any St. Lucian can hope to attain locally, the St. Lucia Cross, the nation’s highest award.
